12-year-old charged with arson, 11-year-old also involved

A 12-year-old male has been charged in connection with a suspicious fire at a trailer on County Road 39, just outside of Consecon.
On April 4th at approximately 7 p.m. officers from Prince Edward County OPP (OPP) were called to investigate the fire. As a result, officers determined criminal offences had occurred.
The 12-year-old has been charged with Break Enter and Commit an Indictable Offence and Arson. An 11-year-old male was also involved but will not be charged as the youth has not yet reached the age of criminal responsibility. The names of the young persons will not be released in accordance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act (YCJA).
The charged male was held for a Show Cause Hearing scheduled for April 5th 2017 at the Ontario Court of Justice, in Belleville.
