Council calls turbine heritage report incomplete

Prince Edward County council says the “White Pines Project Heritage Assessment Report” by Stantec Consulting revised last October is “incomplete and deficient” and “lacks appropriate mitigation measures”.

The municipal comments will be forwarded to the the Ministry of Environment and wpd as supplementary comments to the consultation comments forwarded by council in 2012.

The municipality recommends the MOE be requested to not approve the wpd project and to be advised that if the project is approved, the County requests the modification of of the project to remove or relocate three turbines to remove impacts on adjacent cultural heritage resources, as well as other matters (see below).

wpd Canada proposes 29 turbines in Athol and South Marysburgh.

Prince Edward County is one of 83 official “unwilling hosts” for industrial wind turbines in the province.
