Nominate a County volunteer for recognition – one week left!

The Wellings of Picton will host its second annual PEC Volunteer Recognition Award Luncheon at its newly opened adult lifestyle community building in Picton.

The call for nominations ends March 31.

“We are asking the community at large to submit a nomination on behalf of a volunteer who you think has made a significant impact to our wonderful community,” said Rachel Henry, marketing manager at Wellings of Picton. “Last year’s Volunteer Recognition Awards was met with such enthusiasm, that we are excited to make this an annual event. Daily, we see dozens of volunteers working tirelessly within our communities, and our residents have either spent countless hours of their lives in a volunteer role, or continue to do so. It is not only part of the fabric of this industry , but the fabric of Canadian seniors as well as 42 per cent of the volunteer workforce are in the 55-plus category.”

Henry says Prince Edward County is a shining example of that selfless commitment where thousands of volunteer hours are spent on countless worthy projects.
“We want to recognize and celebrate all volunteers during National Volunteer Week,” added Henry, noting the celebration is to be held Wednesday, April 26 from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Wellings, 617 Cty Rd 49, Picton.

The judges this year, will be three winners from last year, Fran Renoy, Carlyn Moulton and John Mather.

Nominations will be accepted in four categories again this year:

The Community Builder Award to recognize an individual who has shown exemplary leadership in a volunteer capacity.

The Caring County Award for a PEC resident who continually shows outstanding compassion and has inspired others to do so.

The Lifelong Achievement Award for a person who has tirelessly volunteered their time and made a significant impact on community.

The Exceptional Youth Award to will recognize the contribution of an individual under the age of 21 through youth engagement.

Nomination forms can be picked up at the Wellings of Picton office or the Picton Gazette office until Friday, March 31st – the submission deadline. They are also available by clicking here.

The public is welcome to attend the luncheon and awards ceremony. Tickets are $25. Contact Rachel Henry, (613) 707-6552 to purchase, or email her at:
