Applications now open for community grants over $5,000

The County of Prince Edward is now accepting applications for grants over $5,000 through the Municipal Community Grant Program.

“A lot of amazing work happens in our community and the municipality wants to support as many of those efforts as possible,” said Robert Quaiff, Mayor, County of Prince Edward. “We encourage groups to consider how funding or in-kind support from this program could help further meet community’s needs.”

The Municipal Community Grants Program aims to improve the well-being and quality of life of the community and its residents through financial assistance to non-profit, community-based organizations. Applicants may request financial assistance as well as in-kind support to offset the costs associated with using municipally owned facilities or accessing County staff resources.

Successful grant applicants will demonstrate value and benefit to the community, capacity to complete the proposed project, and a commitment to becoming financially self-sufficient.

Applications are also evaluated based on their alignment with the goals and objectives of The County’s Corporate Strategic Plan and the Community Development Strategic Plan.
The application form as well as information about the funding criteria and application process can be found on The County website.

The Municipal Community Grant Program is subject to County Council approval during the 2018 budget process.

The deadline for applications is 4 pm on Friday, Nov. 17, 2017. Interested organizations can direct questions or submit applications to Wendy Lane, Grants, Contracts and Special Projects Coordinator, via email at wlane@pecounty.on.ca.

Applications can also be delivered to The County’s Community Development Department at Shire Hall (332 Picton Main St.).

In addition to grants over $5,000, The County in conjunction with The County Foundation (TCF) administers two other streams of the Municipal Community Grant Program: grants up to $5,000 in cash and in-kind, as well as in-kind grants of $1,000 or less. For these grants, TCF tops up monetary funding from the municipality by an additional 25 per cent. Applications for those streams have closed, and the results will be announced in the coming months.
