County’s youth shine on stage in ROC’n Revue

Prince Edward County youth shone on the Regent Stage as they showcased their talent supported and coached by community professionals.

Funds raised at the show go toward keeping the youth centre on Picton’s Main Street open and to provide program supplies, healthy snacks, transportation, educational field trips and workshops.

Opened in the fall of 2017 at 299 Main St., the centre welcomes youth between the ages of 12 an 18 to enjoy a safe environment to connect with others, to relax, or participate in programs focused on mentorship, business, social enterprise and financial literacy.

“This place makes me feel safe, and important,” said one member in an opening video presentation. “It shows them how to treat each other, but also does a great job of being a friend to those who go there,” said another. “I come here to meet new people and have an amazing time. I love the youth centre. It’s fun.”

The 6th annual show was opened by the dazzling Miss Emily (Emily Fennell) leading the group ensemble.

Co-hosts Cori Goodman and Hilary Fennell

Hilary Fennell, who has hosted the show for the past six years, thanked Instant Rivalry’s Megan Hutton and Caleb Hutton who produced this year’s show. This year she co-hosted with Cori Goodman.

“We also want to thank everyone for their support of this organization (Recreational Outreach Centre) for the past 19 years. Next year is the 20th anniversary It will be big!”

Such a great show! I enjoyed being a part of it. Caleb, Megan, Ben, Jeremy and myself (not mentioned in the article) were the house band. Just thought I would let you know since I seem to have been missed! All of the kids were so talented and performed with so much heart.
