Donation helps pay for cardiac equipment at County’s hospital

The Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Foundation received $6,000 from the Royal Canadian Legion, Ontario Command, Ladies Auxiliaries Charitable Foundation. This donation will offset the recent purchase of telemetry equipment, used for cardiac monitoring, at Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital. Having up-to-date cardiac monitoring equipment allows the physicians and medical staff at the hospital to manage patients who would otherwise be transferred to another hospital. With this upgrade, physicians and staff can now safely monitor a patient’s cardiac condition close to home, with the patient surrounded by familiar caregivers, friends and family.

“We are especially grateful to the Royal Canadian Legion for helping us acquire state-of-the-art equipment that the government does not fund for our hospital,” said Leo Finnegan, chair of the Foundation. “Our job is to support the medical staff at the hospital by raising donations to pay for the medical equipment and facilities needed to provide a range of health care services to our patients.”

“Our goal is to build partnerships with those in the community who will work with us to meet the needs of our fundraising endeavours,” said Finnegan. “Supporting our hospital in this central role cannot be managed alone. It can only succeed through the strength of coming together as partners, like the Legion has demonstrated today.”
