Expect to wait as 30-minute ferry service continues

Line ups and waiting continue on both sides as single ferry, 30-minute service continues at the Glenora Ferry.

The ferry is unable to operate its second vessel due to record water levels in Lake Ontario. The second ferry varies slightly from the first and does not fit into the docks due to the water level, to allow safe trasit for vehicles, even in a ballasted state.

The Ferry service notes that when water levels drop sufficiently, the second ferry and 15-minute service will begin.

Note, due to potential damaging wake, ferry speed is also being reduced.

This is precisely why the two aging ferries need to be replaced with modern vessels that will handle all the water conditions we currently face. The two local MPP’s need to step up and address this!
