Golfers are again invited to tee up to improve the care patients receive at Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital.

On Tuesday, June 12, RE/MAX Quinte Ltd. and the Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Foundation will join forces to host the fourth annual Teeing Up Fore Health Care golf classic at the Picton Golf and Country Club, in support of priority medical equipment purchases at the County’s hospital.

Wilkinson & Company LLP, Chartered Accountants and Tax Specialists will again champion the golf classic at the title level sponsoring $5,000 toward supporting the tournament and over the four years since the tournament’s inception, have given $20,000.

“This tournament offers the opportunity to come together as a community in support of the current campaign to raise money for replacement medical equipment needs at PECMH. The money raised will have a direct impact on County residents and visitors and the health care they receive,” said Jeff Snider, CPA CA and partner with Wilkinson & Company. “As a firm that is dedicated to community service, Wilkinson & Company has a special interest in ensuring that when not-for-profit organizations, like the Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Foundation succeed, we help improve the quality of care patients receive at the hospital,” he said.

Net proceeds will be directed to the PECMH Foundation to assist with the purchase of two Trilogy 202 Ventilators for the emergency department. These portable ventilators provide life support for transporting critically ill patients from one hospital to another.

The ventilator breathes for these patients who are unable to breathe for themselves. This machine is also able to provide oxygen under pressure with a mask similar to a machine used for treating sleep apnea Acquiring this new equipment will cost $31,902 for two ventilators.

“Our Foundation raises money to purchase medical equipment needed for patient care at PECMH. Each year our County hospital staff treats more than 39,000 patients. Our goal is to build partnerships in the County with businesses and others who will work with us to meet the needs of our fundraising actions. We are proud of RE/MAX’s efforts in support of our hospital,” said Monica Alyea, chairperson of the PECMH Foundation.

The dedication of sponsors also includes Wellings of Picton, Parkside Landscaping and Contracting, CIBC Mobile Mortgage Team, Herb Pliwischkies and MarketHigh Advertising through sponsoring the tournament at the $2,500 level.

Hole sponsorships are also being sold for $150 each offering a fun, feel-good way to increase visibility for local businesses.

Registration on June 12 begins at 11 a.m. Golfers will then hit the links for the 1p.m. shotgun start for 18 holes on the well-manicured, picturesque course in Picton. Entry into the tournament costs $150 per golfer. The tournament sold out in 2017 and the tournament is well over 75 per cent sold out for 2018.
