Home sales up 3.9 per cent

The average sale price for homes in January 2015 reflected a 3.9 per cent increase over last year.

January numbers show there were 159 overall units sold compared to 145 sold for January 2014. The residential portion of the sold units was 132 in 2015 and 126 in 2014.

The January average residential sale price in 2015 was slightly higher than 2014, coming in at $215,150 compared to $207,135 last year, reflecting an increase of 3.9 per cent,” said Jamie Troke, Quinte and District Real Estate Association President, in a statement. January also showed an increase in new residential listings compared with last year, with 492 in 2015 and 425 in 2014.

“The market is off to a solid start. Interest rates are still trending downward making it a great time to consider real estate investment,” he added.
