No serious injuries as school bus lands on its side

UPDATE OCT 31 – Prince Edward OPP Cst. Kim Guthrie reports the driver of the bus had just dropped off a student and was westbound on Shannon Road when the bus entered the south ditch and came to rest on its side.
The subsequent investigation is now concluded and the driver has been charged under the Highway Traffic Act.
The 78-year-old Bloomfield resident was issued three Provincial Offence Notices – for Careless Driving, Fail to Carry Completed Daily Inspection Report and Fail to Carry Inspection Schedule.
OCT. 30 – A dozen students and their bus driver escaped serious injuries Monday afternoon after the bus landed on its side on Shannon Road.
Ontario Provincial Police Prince Edward County detachment officers were dispatched at about 3:15 p.m. to Shannon Road, just outside of Bloomfield.
Cst. Kim Guthrie reports the driver of the bus had just dropped off a student and was westbound on Shannon Road when the bus entered the south ditch, and came to rest on its side.
The 12 students – both elementary and high school age – were on board at the time of the collision. All the students and the driver have been checked by paramedics and no serious are reported.
The investigation into the cause of the incident is ongoing.
