Celebrate Library Week at the County’s libraries

Fun and learning continues at Prince Edward County Public Library branches with special programming in October. Visit the website for full details (adult programs also). Register online at http://peclibrary.org/register/; visit or call the branch nearest you.

Some of the highlights:

Oct. 15-21 – Public Library Week – Oct. 17 – Meet author Sally Barnes as she reads from her new book, Unleashed at the Picton branch from 6-7:30 p.m. Copies will be available for sale with 40 per cent of sales supporting the Loyalist Humane Society.

Oct. 18 meet Bev Marr, Peggy Ritchie and Marg Trompour at the Consecon Branch from 3-6 p.m. They will present a display on the history of canning in Prince Edward County as well as Canadian glass sealers. Coffee and cookies.

Oct. 19 at the Wellington Branch from 1-4 p.m. Meet Anne Stephenson who moved to the County with her husband Richard Brzozowski for a talk on her books and writing life.

Oct. 21 – Nancy Butler talks about the history of the Anne Farwell Library at the Milford Branch from 2-4 p.m.

Oct. 17 – Tech Workshops at the Library – Introduction to Facebook 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Picton Branch and 2 p.m. to 4 p.m. at the Wellington Branch library. Register by visiting the library, or online at peclibrary.org or call Tracy at 613-399-2023.

Oct. 17 – PEC Newcomers – Meet others new to the area and learn about the area with speakers of local interest. Coffee hour at the Picton Branch Library Thursdays at 1 p.m. On Oct. 17 join Conor Sweet for a talk about hobby farming in PEC.

Oct. 18 – Tech Workshops at the Library – Overdrive and Hoopla 1-4 p.m. at the Wellington Branch Library. Register by visiting the library, or online at peclibrary.org or call Tracy at 613-399-2023.

Oct. 21 – Tech Workshops at the Library – Apple Clinic from 2-4 p.m. at the Wellington Branch Library. Register by visiting the library, or online at peclibrary.org or call Tracy at 613-399-2023.

Oct. 25 – Tech Workshops at the Library – Maintaining and Optimizing Windows – 10 a.m. to noon at the Wellington Branch Library. Register by visiting the library, or online at peclibrary.org or call Tracy at 613-399-2023.

Oct. 27 – PA Day Spooky fun at the library – Visit the spooky but not too scary haunted house at the Picton branch from 10:30 a.m. to noon and from 2-4 p.m. create your own Halloween decor. All ages. Registration recommended, but not required. Visit the Wellington Branch from 10:30 to noon to solve spooky puzzles, enjoy a scavenger hunt.
