The PECI girls hockey team lost a tough battle 3-0 against St. Theresa’s Titans at home on Tuesday.

The game started out strong with both goalies getting only a few shots on them. Both teams came out fast with back-and-forth gameplay, but neither was able to score a goal in the first period.

Into the second, the Panthers started to fall back giving the fast Saint Theresa’s team lots of chances. There were a few close calls for Saint T’s, one of them being a puck that sat just behind the goalie, however the Panthers did a good job of stopping those chances. Playing in their end too much resulted in the Titans gaining the first goal of the game.

The Panthers pushed hard, trying to tie it up, but nothing was getting past the Saint T’s goalie. Both teams were determined to score but only Saint T’s scored another to end the period 2-0.

In the third period, the Panthers came out fast but the Titans were a bit quicker and scored their third goal. The Panthers saw opportunity when the Titans got a penalty but there was no getting past the St. T’s goalie.

After a break for exams, the Panthers’ next game is set for Feb. 6 versus Bayside at 3pm in Picton.
