Partial burn ban in Prince Edward County

Due to high winds, Prince Edward County Fire and Rescue has issued a partial burn ban.

Under a partial ban, burning is restricted to a container with a screened top or a small campfire.

Prince Edward County Fire and Rescue reminds residents that a burning permit is required for all open air burning.

Residents can apply for an annual burning permit by visiting Fire Station 1 at 8 McDonald Drive in Picton, Shire Hall at 332 Picton Main Street, or at any County Library.
You can find a full list of County libraries online at www.PECLibrary.org/locations/. Burning permits cost $15 and expire at the end of the calendar year (Dec. 31, 2018).

The Fire Chief evaluates weather and ground conditions to determine the necessity of a burn ban. When conditions change, the ban will be updated.
