PECI students take Truth and Reconciliation to school board

Fresh from their trip to Toronto to present at the Children, Youth and Performance Conference at Young People’s Theatre, drama students at PECI their play to the Hastings Prince Edward District School Board, Monday.

Tina Elliott, Superintendent of Education introduced the students, principal Earle Wright and teacher Matthew Sheahan.

Wright explained the background about how the concept of a performance became a reality through research by the students in small groups and a larger group. They curated each part of the performance, building upon the story from one segment to the next.

Titled ‘A Call to Action: A Collective Creation about Truth and Reconciliation, the play addressed issues through students’ eyes in a series of statements. They performed it for the County’s elementary students and in three public shows.

Students performing were Abby Attwells, Kennedy Babutac, Maddy Colton, Anthony Cumpsty, Talia Epstein, Aliyah Jarvis, Amanda Johnson, Sarah Johnson, Maggie Lindsay, Anna Louder, Nylah Molyneux, Brynn Peck, Amber Peeling and Kayla Zachariah.
