Quinte Conservation seeks photo contest entries

‘Sunset Flowers’ by Mark Hopper, a winner in last year’s contest

As part of Quinte Conservation’s 70th anniversary celebrations, the local environmental organization is hosting a photo contest.

Photographers are invited to submit photos until Oct. 31, 2017 and contestants can send their entries from any of the Quinte Conservation areas for a chance to win one of six prize packages. Contest winners will also have their photographs featured on Quinte Conservation greeting cards which will be for sale later in the year.

The grand prize consists of a family pass to Ripley’s Aquarium (two adult passes, two children’s passes), a VIA Rail credit of $250, Stirling Festival Theatre Tickets, a $50 Ivanhoe Cheese Gift Card, a Depot Lakes camping package, and an Ottawa Senators hat. Other sponsors of the event include the Toronto Zoo, Quinte Mall, West City Honda, The Right Fit Personal Training Studio, East Side Mario’s, and Red Ball Radio. Further prizes listed below.

There are three categories in which contestants can enter their photographs, the first being “people”, where contestants are encouraged to take a photograph of their family or friends enjoying a recreational activity at a conservation area.

The second category is “wildlife”, where contestants can submit photos capturing wildlife in its natural habitat. Contestants should remember to not get too close, and to use a camera with a zoom lens in order to get the best and safest shot possible.

The third and final category is “landscapes”, where contestants are encouraged to get out and enjoy nature all year, and to take photographs at conservation areas throughout the different seasons to showcase the natural beauty of our watershed.

Contestants should submit their photos to photos@quinteconservation.ca and complete rules are available at http://quinteconservation.ca
