Real estate listings and sales slower in June

Home sales in the Quinte area dropped about 14.4 per cent but year-to-date numbers for residental sales remain 42.8 per cent higher than 2016.

Quinte and District Real Estate Association President Cathy Polan said 322 homes changed hands in June with an average sale price of $294,050 – up from $273,322 a year ago, by about 7.6 per cent. The monthly residential dollar sales shows a decrease of 7.9 per cent with the 2017 figure coming in at $94,684,241 compared to $102,768,964 in 2016.

The year-to-date averages for residential sales continues to be impacted by the above-average sales from the past few months, she noted, and shows an increase of 20 per cent when compared to a year ago.

“The month of June was a bit slower than previous months with residential sales in units showing a decrease with 322 units sold, down 14.4 per cent from 376 units sold in June 2016,” said Polan. “Available listings continue to be lower than in the past – currently 39.2 per cent less than 2016 and all property types down by 29.6 per cent from a year ago.

The June 2017 dollar sales for all property types is $108,430,691 – a decrease of 8.2 per cent from the same month last year.
