Second barn fire under investigation

A second barn fire is under investigation following a blaze early Saturday just after midnight.

Officers from the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Prince Edward detachment were dispatched to the fire on Cty Rd 13 between Murphy Road and Black Creek in South Marysburgh.

Cst. Kim Guthrie reports that upon arrival, local firefighters were battling a fully engulfed barn fire which they managed to contain, preventing the nearby residence from being affected.

“The residence was unoccupied at the time and no animals were housed in the barn. The fire is considered suspicious at this time,” she said.

No suspects have been identified at this point for the second fire, however, the investigation is continuing into a suspicious barn fire that occurred Oct. 8 on Cty Rd 49 in which a four-door sedan type vehicle beige or taupe in color was seen in the area several times prior to the blaze breaking out.

Anyone with information on this incident is asked to call the OPP Communications Centre at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-TIPS (8477).
