A hot summer night set the stage for sizzling racing action at Brighton Speedway Saturday.

Race fans packed the stands as 20 Southern Ontario Sprints dialed in for a second season appearance. The crowd was also treated to a thrilling Kart Klub Demo with 11 members showing off strong driving skills.

Turner takes two-in-a-row at Brighton
Coming off an opening night win at Brighton, Cory Turner was determined to park his No. 13 again.

On the first time by, the 2018 champ slid into the lead and never looked back throughout the entire 25-lap Sprint feature. No, 91 Ryan Turner and No. 22s Shawn Sliter went door-to-door as No. 10 Mitch Brown and No. 1-10 Jake Brown gunned it close behind. Lapped traffic slowed the pace allowing Mitch Brown to take advantage and sling shot his way into second but it wasn’t enough to catch Turner as he sailed to victory lane. Mitch Brown took second, Ryan Turner third, Sliter fourth and Jake Brown fifth. No. 1 Holly Porter was victorious in a sprint dash for cash.

Rayner checks out to capture third win
Hungry to secure his third win of the season, No. 55 Bradley Rayner bit down on the inside and snapped up the lead from his third starting position on lap 5 of the 30-lap Vanderlaan Building Products feature.

Rayner was hooked up as he took off leaving the pack in his dust as they pushed hard to catch up. A caution with five laps to go couldn’t stop Rayner from putting the hammer down and parking it. No. 7 Adam Nayler earned second, No. 57 Charlie Sandercock third, No. 29 Phil Potts fourth and No. 98 Craig Graham fifth.

Mutton makes it rain checkers
No. 1 Shawn Gregory looked like he was well on his way to securing his first season win as he dominated the first half of the 30- lap Bainer’s OilGARD Canadian Modified ABC Triple Crown Race 2.

A caution on lap 16 slowed and reset the field allowing No. 39 Jonah Mutton to take the advantage from the high side. Mutton stomped on the gas as Gregory, No. 14 Brandt Graham and No. 99 Linc Brown went 3-wide in his rear view. It didn’t take long for No. 87 Andrew Hennessy to shoot up from his 11th starting position adding more muscle to the mix. Mutton and Hennessy went wire-to-wire for 10 laps in a battle to the finish line with the 39 machine snagging his first win of the season. Hennessy scored second, Graham third, Brown fourth and No. 48 Derrick Greig fifth.

Checkers fly for Flieler and Severin
It only took No. 11 Adam Flieler two laps to move up from his 4th starting position to take the lead in the 15-lap Bill John’s Comp 4 main event. Even as multiple cautions slowed the pace, Flieler never lost his cool as No. 44 Tommy Bailey and No. 43 Devon Kippen tried to intimidate him from behind. Flieler flew to victory lane with Bailey in second, No. 43 Devon Kippen third, No. 13 Joel Dempster fourth and No. 19 Jordan Baldwin fifth. No. 12 Caleb Severin was strong and consistent to victory lane capturing his first mini-stock feature win. 14m Matthew Moore placed second and No. 7 Anthony Rinaldi third.
