Spring Countylicious bursting with local flavour

Chefs in Prince Edward County are welcoming spring by preparing three-course meals that highlight seasonal fare during this year’s Countylicious – and are supporting food security.

This year, a $250 donation will be made on behalf of the Countylicious program to both the Picton Food Bank and to the StoreHouse Foodbank in Wellington.

“Thank you to the Countylicious restaurants for the donation and helping the community work toward food security in Prince Edward County. You do make a difference,” said Ellen Brownbill, Picton United Church Food Bank.

“This time of year is very difficult for food banks as the funds are now running out from Christmas. We all struggle trying to provide fresh fruit and vegetables when the funds get low,” adds Linda Downey, of StoreHouse Foodbank. “These funds will be a blessing to each of us to be able to buy fresh produce. Thank you for making a difference to others in our communities.”

The four-week celebration of cuisine runs until Sunday, April 28. Each Countylicious meal consists of an appetizer a main course and a dessert and costs $40 per person, plus tax and gratuities.

For the first time, the new Marans Dinebar in Picton and Bloomfield Public House in Bloomfield will take part in the celebration of fine dining in Prince Edward County.

Other participating restaurants include:
 Agrarian Bistro
 Amelia’s Garden at the Waring House
 County Canteen
 East and Main Bistro
 Flame and Smith
 Hartley’s Tavern
 Pomodoro
 Portabella
 Public School House at Jackson’s Falls
 The Drake Devonshire
 Waupoos Estates Winery
