Trees coming down in Wellington Park; road work on Danforth

Pedestrians and motorists are being notified of work the County is doing this week, at Wellington Park and on Danforth Road.

The County plans to remove two unhealthy Norway maple trees in Wellington Park, and grind the stumps below grade, on Wednesday, Nov. 8.
County Arborists, the tree removal contractor, will be working between the hours of 8:30 am and 5 pm. The trees are located adjacent to the park’s Centennial wall, within the area of the park currently fenced-off.

The County reports an arborist recommended removal because the trees are unhealthy and the deteriorating structural conditions pose a risk to the public and are also negatively affecting the retaining wall that is under repair.

Access to Wellington Park will not be restricted during the tree removal as the contractor will work within the fenced-off area of the park.

On Thursday, Nov. 9 a section of Danforth Road will be closed between Baitleys Road and Chase Road for the replacement of a culvert.

The road will be closed between 7 am and 5:30 pm as Coco Paving replaces a culvert between 642 Danforth Rd. and Karlo Estates Winery. A detour route will be established along Baitleys Road, Swamp College Road, and Chase Road.

Local traffic will be permitted access within the closed section of Danforth Road from both ends of the road closure.
