Wanted: Youth who care about community

The call is out for new members to join the Bay of Quinte Constituency Youth Council.

Neil Ellis, MP Bay of Quinte, invites youth ages 15 to 24 to apply to join the council for 2018-2019. Members meet once every one to two months to discuss issues and topics of importance to them, then organize projects to mobilize and community.

Last year’s council developed and executed a Spring Showers Toiletries drive which collected more than 6,000 hygiene products for distribution by local food banks in the riding.

This year, Ellis hopes the incoming council will will more new ideas for an initiative to make a positive impact on the community, as well as sharing valuable discussion on various topics.

“I look forward to working together with them and learning their unique ideas and perspectives about government processes, and how to better our community,” said Ellis. “I know we will have another tremendously successful year with all of our Youth Council members.”

The council is non-partisan and its focus is to bring a diverse set of perspectives to conversation, as well as providing valuable leadership experience.

Application forms are available at 100 Station St., Belleville, or can be downloaded from Ellis’ website and Facebook page. Deadline to apply is Monday, Oct. 1.
