Wellington Dukes welcome new hockey brass

Wellington Dukes fans met the hockey club’s new brass and upcoming players Wednesday at a media conference at the Essroc Arena.

Randy Uens was introduced as the team’s new vice-president of hockey operations. Uens will be joined by Ryan Woodward as General Manager and Associate Coach, Scott McCrory as Head Coach, Kyle Hawkins Shulz, the Assistant Coach, Tim Humberstone, Director, and Don Cotton, Director of Scouting.

Current team owner Michael Mulvihill will remain involved with the Dukes, with the team expected to announce a change to its ownership structure in the coming weeks. It has been speculated that ABcann Medicinals INC founder Ken Clement is expected to receive OJHL league approval to take on majority ownership.

The Dukes, a member of the Ontario Junior Hockey League, play their home games at the Essroc Arena inside the Wellington and District Community Centre. Opened in 2010, the public facility features a regulation NHL size ice pad, walking track, small fitness area, mini-stick hockey rink, and multipurpose meeting rooms.

Wellington will host the 2017-18 home opener at Essroc Arena Friday, Sept. 15 versus the Kingston Voyageurs.
