100 People Who Care help fill Picton food bank shelves

The 100 People Who Care Prince Edward County members are helping the United Church Food Bank to help others as the group presented $9,500 this quarter to the charity.

The food bank began in 1984 and continues to be run entirely by volunteers at the 12 Chapel St., location in Picton. Cash donations buy much needed fresh fruit and vegetables, milk, eggs and meat, and allow volunteers to buy canned and dry goods in bulk at good prices.

Support was given to the Wellington and District Storehouse Foodbank in this year’s first quarter.

The 100 People Who Care group is based on the simple concept of bringing together a group of 100+ people who commit to meet four times per year, contribute $100 at each meeting, and make a huge impact on a local charity.

This donation means the organization has contributed more than $273,000 to charities in PEC since its inception – despite losing some members and momentum during COVID 19 lockdowns.

The 100 People Who Care group welcomes members. The group first formed in 2015, and has since injected more than $40,000 each year into the PEC community. Visit the website to learn more
