5th annual Tee Up Fore Health Care sold out with waiting list

The Teeing Up Fore Health Care committee and friends were thrilled to announce this year’s tournament is sold out with a waiting list of golfers supporting equipment needs at the Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital.

Realtors at RE/MAX Quinte Ltd. in Prince Edward County have a full house teeing up to improve the care patients receive at Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital.

On Tuesday, June 11, RE/MAX Quinte and the Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Foundation will join forces to host the fifth annual Teeing Up Fore Health Care golf classic at the Picton Golf and Country Club in support of priority medical equipment purchases at the County’s hospital.

“RE/MAX Quinte is excited to spearhead this golf tournament to raise funds for medical equipment needed now at our hospital,” said Sean McKinney, broker of record. “Quality health care is an asset to attracting homebuyers to our area and anything we can contribute towards that end is a step in the right direction. We’re looking forward to June 11 and showing how strong our community is.”

Wilkinson & Company LLP, Chartered Accountants and Tax Specialists will again champion the classic at the title level with a $5,000 donation toward supporting the tournament. Over the years since the tournament’s inception, Wilkinsons have given $25,000.

“This tournament offers the opportunity to come together as a community in support of the current campaign to raise money for replacement medical equipment needs at PECMH,” said Jeff Snider, CPA CA and partner with Wilkinson & Company. “The money raised will have a direct impact on County residents and visitors and the health care they receive. As a firm that is dedicated to community service, Wilkinson & Company has a special interest in ensuring that when not-for-profit organizations, like the Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Foundation succeed, we help improve the quality of care patients receive at the hospital.”

This year’s proceeds will help purchase a defibrillator for the Emergency Department and an infusion pump for the Inpatient Unit. Defibrillators are devices that restore a normal heartbeat by sending an electric pulse or shock to the heart. An infusion pump is a medical device that delivers fluids, such as nutrients and medications, into a patient’s body in controlled amounts. Acquiring these two essential pieces of equipment will cost $29,000.

The Foundation’s goal is to build partnership in the County with businesses and others who will help meet the needs of acquiring equipment.

“Our Foundation raises money to purchase medical equipment needed for patient care as each year our County hospital staff treats more than 40,000 patients,” said Monica Alyea, chairperson of the PECMH Foundation. “We are proud of RE/MAX’s efforts in support of our hospital.”

The Wellings of Picton, Parkside Landscaping and Contracting, CIBC Mobile Mortgage Team, Port Picton Homes, Herb and Kathy Pliwischkies and MarketHigh Advertising have also chipped in their commitment to the hospital through sponsoring the tournament at the $2,500 level.

Hole sponsorships are being sold for $150 each. If are looking for a fun, feel good way to increase visibility for your business contact Briar Boyce, of PECMHF, at 613-476-1008 ext. 4425.

Registration on June 11 begins at 11 a.m. Golfers will hit the links for the 1 p.m. shotgun start to enjoy 18 holes on the well-manicured, picturesque course in Picton. Entry into the tournament costs $150 per golfer.
