Come enjoy cocktails from 5:30 – 6:30 pm at which time the buffet dinner will be served.
Take part in the silent and/or live auction and enjoy the live entertainment!

Over 100 guests attended last year’s Gala in support of programming for children at the Victoria Schoolhouse in Ameliasburgh and preserving the history of education and heritage.

So here are the top 10 ways you can help QEMA realize its goals.  Why not choose a few?

1.  COME TO THE VICTORIAN GALA on Saturday, November 3 at The Restaurant on the Knoll, Isaiah Tubbs Resort on West Lake. Superb Buffet Dinner at 7 p.m. Silent and live auction with more than 100 items. A delicious pie and cake auction. Entertainment by Penny, John & Roanna Kitchen. Door prizes and a 50/50 draw for $1000. Call Kathy Reed for tickets ($50 each) at 613.393.3115

2.  If you can’t come, perhaps you would like to donate an item for the auction:  an original piece of art or print,  Christmas decor,  a freshly baked pie or decorated cake, new things, old things in great condition, a fur coat, jewellery, an antique,  C.D.s , a Horn Trip in your Mustang…a sail around The County, a fishing trip for 2 in a charter boat, tickets to a hockey game…the list is endless!  Look around the house for your unique donation.  Call Kathy to discuss your idea.

3.  Become a QEMA member for 2013! ONLY $10 per year! Send your cheque to: Louise Sallans, 400 Island Road R.R.#1, Picton, Ontario. K0K 2T0 – At present we have 88 members and are setting a goal of 125 for 2012.  Join now and support our efforts at only $10.00 per year.  You will receive a membership card, 3 newsletters during the year and an informative calendar filled with pictures from QEMA’s activities during the past year.  A visit to the schoolhouse and archives is always FREE for members.

4.  Become an active QEMA member and volunteer (late May-Oct.1) to carry out a variety of duties e.g. overseeing the schoolhouse and greeting visitors during museum visiting hours, 10 am – 4:30 pm, cleaning/sweeping/dusting, arranging displays and assisting in the archives with its organization etc.  We always need help during all the fall fairs.  But best of all, you will love the peace and tranquility of the schoolhouse setting overlooking Roblin Lake.

5.  Donate items and memorabilia that would be educationally pertinent to the needs of our one-room schoolhouse and the archives: pictures, letters, stories documents, books, school bells, lunchpails, children’s old scrapbooks and notebooks, samples of woodworking items and sewing work that students from former years have made to be used in displays.

6.  Help plan and organize special events. Work with the fundraising committee to raise funds to sustain Quinte Educational Museum & Archives.  Donate to our summer yard sales and assist with their organization and supervision.

7.  When making a memorial donation in remembrance of a friend, consider QEMA as the recipient and receive a receipt for income tax purposes.

8.  Make a donation to QEMA and receive a receipt for income tax purposes.

9. “Music In The Schoolhouse Series” – We are looking for talented people to perform at our events during the 2013 summer season.  If you play an instrument, sing or dance, we will welcome performers of all ages. A tuned piano is on site and the stage awaits your performance. Call Kathy Reed at 613.393.3115

10.  Spread the word! We ask that you tell all your friends and contacts. Inform them of our efforts and our “call for support” so that QEMA may continue to preserve the history of education in Prince Edward County and tell the story of education in Ontario.
