Public school board releases Return to Learning Plan

Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board is has released updated guidance for return to school in September – including mandatory masks indoors.
Meeting Ontario Ministry of Education directives, all employees, bus drivers, school visitors will be required to provide proof of vaccination, or an official document showing exemption, and will be required to take regular COVID-19 tests.
There will be no indoor assemblies and extra curricular activities are to be allowed.
The complete document includes everything from screening and masks, to ppe, hygiene, distancing, recess and breaks, shared spaces, cafeteria and food programs, visitors, transportation, ventilation, vaccination, mental health, sports, extra-curricular activities and community use of schools.
“We are confident that with the multiple layers of protective factors in place, we will enjoy a year of instruction, support and activity for all students,” said Katherine MacIver, Director of Education. “We know that regular school attendance is essential to student well-being and learning.”

Families who wish to change registration made in the spring for in-person or virtual learning can do so from Monday, Aug. 23 to Thursday, Aug. 26 by calling the school board at 613-966-1170 (choosing ‘5’, then extension 58402)
