Additional County buildings now open

Additional County offices, facilities and town halls will reopen on Friday, July 31, which is in line with the Phase 3 provincial reopening.

Municipal Offices
The customer service counter at the Edward Building (280 Picton Main Street, Picton) will be open to serve the public with COVID-19 provisions. The public must make an appointment for any of the Development Services offered at the Edward Building, including Planning, Building and Engineering. Appointments for these services can be made by calling 613.476.2148 extension 2051.

During the appointment, the public must wear masks or face coverings at all times, use the hand sanitizer provided, and remain behind the plexiglass that is now installed at the counter. Additionally, the public is advised that due to COVID-19, there are no public washrooms available while visiting the Edward Building.

Shire Hall (332 Picton Main Street) is open 8:30 am-3 pm, Monday to Friday, and the Picton fire hall (8 McDonald Drive) is open 8 am-8pm, seven days a week. Limited services are available at these locations. You can pay a bill, purchase a burn permit, or buy garbage bag tags at Shire Hall. You can buy a burn permit and garbage bag tags at the Picton fire hall.

Services offered by the Clerk’s Office – marriage licences, commissioner of oaths, lottery licences, and liquor licences – are available by appointment on Mondays and Wednesdays from 9 am and noon. Please call 613.476.2148 extension 1022 or email clerks@pecounty.on.ca.

A face covering or mask must be worn along with sanitization practices when inside any municipal office.

Town Halls
The municipality is reopening the facilities listed below for limited pre-bookings. Capacity restrictions are in place for each respective facility. To discuss booking a hall, email bookings@pecounty.on.ca.

Crystal Palace (375A Picton Main Street, Picton): 50 person capacity
Ameliasburgh Town Hall (13 Coleman Street, Ameliasburgh): 20 person capacity
Athol Town Hall (1685 County Road 10, Cherry Valley): 15 person capacity
Bloomfield Town Hall – Upper level (289 Bloomfield Main Street, Bloomfield): 20 person capacity
Hillier Town Hall (18560 Loyalist Parkway, Hillier): 20 person capacity
North Marysburgh Town Hall (2699 County Road 8, Waupoos): 25 person capacity
Sophiasburgh Town Hall (2771 County Road 5, Demorestville): 25 person capacity

In addition to the capacity limits, event participants must wear a mask or face covering in all public places, including municipal buildings.

The community centres remain closed to the public at this time. The Prince Edward Community Centre (375D Picton Main Street, Picton) is currently supporting the COVID-19 assessment centre, while the Wellington and District Community Centre (111 Belleville Street) is currently restricted to council meetings and priorities directed through the municipal emergency control group.

The boards of management for the Picton Town Hall, Wellington Town Hall, South Marysburgh Town Hall, and the Mount Tabor Playhouse are working on reopening plans. Details to be announced when they become available.

Parks, Recreation Facilities, Public Washrooms
Parks, playground equipment, and the splash pad at the Picton Fairgrounds (375 Picton Main Street) are open. Other outdoor spaces and amenities such as sports fields, tennis and pickleball courts, and baseball diamonds are open for public use as well.

County Museums
Two museum sites are reopening on July 31.

Macaulay Heritage Park in Picton will be accepting pre-booked tours only, Wednesdays through Sundays, 10 am to 4 pm. Go online to book. County Museums is welcoming groups of up to six people, in the same social circle, on these tours.

Wellington Heritage Museum will be welcoming drop-in visitors, Wednesdays through Sundays, 10 am to 4 pm. Access will be permitted based on occupancy limits in the facility and the ability to maintain physical distancing while in the gallery.

Ameliasburgh Heritage Village, Mariners Park Museum, and Rose House Museum will not be open to the public during the 2020 season
