Ag federation bursary to Alexa Prinzen

Alexa Prinzen

The Prince Edward Federation of Agriculture (PEFA) has presented its annual post-secondary bursary of $500 to Alexa Prinzen, of Prinsville Dairy Farms.

The federation helps students from Prince Edward County who are involved in the agricultural industry.

Alexa farms with her family in Bloomfield. They milk a herd of 92 cows consisting of Holsteins, Brown Swiss and Milking Shorthorns. The Prinzen name is synonymous with farming in PEC and Alexa is a continuation of a long legacy of farmers.

She is studying Business Agriculture at Algonquin College, Perth Campus and is enjoying learning about different business practices and sectors within the industry.

Alexa is also passionate about animal nutrition, and a career as an animal nutritionist is something she is considering.

“We know that whatever Alexa chooses for her path, she will succeed as she has a positive attitude and a passion for agriculture and her community,” said Resi Walt, member service representative. “We wish her all the best!”

Walt notes that in collecting applications, PEFA asks candidates about their agricultural experience, community involvement, school activities, personal achievements and awards, and finally, why they chose their particular course and its perceived long term benefits.

PEFA is the local branch of the Ontario Federation of Agriculture, representing more than 300 farm families in Prince Edward County. PEFA acts for the long term viability of agriculture and agribusiness in PEC.
