All is fun in the sun at the fall fair

The sun shone on most of the activities at this year’s Picton Fair – billed as the 179th annual celebration of agriculture in the County.
This year’s edition included the ever popular Tim Hortons Baby Show, midway, exhibits, horse, cattle, dog and cat shows, along with entertainment, tractor pulls, and lawn tractor pulls, wrestling and a demolition derby.

ArtistoftheYear2The 2014 Artist of the Year was Andrea Pyman Varangu, shown here with Dan White, Essroc Safety Manager and Jeremy Black, director. Her “Canola Field on Bloomfield Road”  was created with soft pastel.
“This is actually the first time I’ve displayed work”, stated Varangu. “At some point you have to put yourself out there.”
A friend encouraged her to enter the annual contest. She moved to the County about a year and a half ago and says she has been using pastels for a few years.

First runner up was Kathleen Hobson and second runner up was  Susan Hughes Sculpture winner was Codie Goodman.
