Apply to serve on environmental advisory committee

The municipality is accepting applications to serve on its new environmental advisory committee (EAC).
“Serving on this committee is great opportunity to make a difference in our community,” said Mayor Steve Ferguson. “I encourage all people who have an interest and demonstrated skillsets in environmental stewardship to put their name forward.”
Council passed a motion in May 2019 declaring a climate emergency. As part of that declaration, council made a priority to re-establish the Environmental Advisory Committee, which was dissolved in 2013 during a governance review process.
Earlier this month, council approved the terms of reference for the advisory committee. The EAC is to provide information and advice to council and staff on how environmental and sustainability issues impact the community and other municipal plans. The committee is to focus its effort on providing opportunities for community learning and awareness on issues such as climate change, pesticides, and water and energy conservation measures.
Council seeks to appoint five public representatives as well as one youth representative between the ages of 18-25. Candidates must demonstrate a skillset, history, or interest in matters pertaining to the environment. No more than one person from any organized environmental group will be appointed.
You are invited to submit an application form available by clicking here along with a letter of interest, or resume, outlining relevant qualifications and experience to Catalina Blumenberg, Clerk, by Monday, Dec. 9. If you have questions, contact Ms. Blumenberg at 613.476.2148 extension 1021 or email cblumenberg@pecounty.on.ca.
More information about the committee can be found on the County website.
