Arborist rescues plane out of a tree

A local arborist came to the rescue after the County’s John Ferguson got his radio-controlled airplane stuck in a tree.
“On Tuesday I was flying one of my large planes equipped with a camera when I came too close to the top of a very tall tree and got stuck in it,” said Ferguson, a member of the Bay of Quinte Aeromodellers Club. “After spending hours trying to free the plane using a ladder and very long pole I called Matt Morch, of Picton, an arborist who came to my rescue.”
The radio-controlled plane with a seven-foot wingspan, was sitting on top of a leafy 70 to 80 foot Maple just off the west end of the Consecon Flying field.
“Matt climbed to the very top of the tree using a rope and climbing equipment,” said Ferguson. “He carefully lowered the plane to the ground to fly another day.”
