Armed forces low flight training over the County

Aircraft from Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF) will be conducting tactical low flying training in Prince Edward County, mainly near Point Petre starting today until Oct. 30.

Participating in the training are the CH-146 Griffon and CH-147F Chinook helicopters along with the CC-130J Hercules and the CF-188 Hornet. These RCAF aircraft will assist the Canadian Army in aircraft identification training.

“A greater amount of air traffic than normal will be experienced in the vicinity of Point Petre during the late afternoon and early evening, approximately between 4 and 9 p.m. All efforts will be made to ensure that disruption to the community will be at a minimum,” states Lt. Alicia Morris, with the 4th Canadian Division Headquarters Joint Task Force.

“These exercises are conducted in a safe and environmentally responsible manner, in compliance with Canadian Armed Forces training safety regulations and applicable environmental protection regulations. Members of the Canadian Armed Forces are well-trained and there is no risk to public safety during this exercise.”
