Athol man succumbs to injuries after vehicle collapses on him

A 57-year-old Athol resident died following injuries while performing maintenance on a vehicle.
Monday, May 22 at approximately 12:04 p.m., emergency crews were called to a County Road 18 residence in Athol following reports that a vehicle collapsed on top of a man while he was working.
The Prince Edward County Detachment of the Ontario Provincial Police are investigating the incident. Prince Edward County Fire Department, and Hastings- Quinte EMS were also on the scene. The OPP Forensic Identification Services Unit (FISU) are assisting in the investigation. The Office of the Chief Cororner was notified.
Willie Peterson, 57, was transported to hospital by ambulance, but later succumbed to his injuries. A post mortem is to be held today at Kingston General Hospital. Funeral arrangements are yet to be announced.
