Bay of Quinte Interpreted 2 – on display until August 29

Fishing-on-the-Bay The Bay of Quinte Remedial Action Plan (BQRAP) is presenting Bay of Quinte Interpreted 2, a visual art show with a twist.
First, BQRAP held a ‘Photo Contest with a Twist 2’ with the theme, ‘Four Seasons on the Bay’.

“To our delight, people really love the bay in all seasons,” says Sarah Midlane-Jones, of BQRAP. “We received 185 photos. Second, we asked 19 area artists to interpret the 12 winning photos from the photo contest. Some of the photos have been interpreted by several artists and it is exciting to see how the different artists view the same image.”

The winning photos and the interpretations are on display until Thursday, August 29 at the John M. Parrott Art Gallery, Belleville Public Library, 254 Pinnacle St, Belleville.

The judges, artists, Christine Pellati, Rachel Comeau and Mandy Bing had the difficult task of choosing the 12 winning photos. The winning photographers are: Steve Cooper, Elaine Kemp, Kenzo Dozono, Mark Hopper, Julie Eckert, Nan Donaldson, Montse Alvarado and Jay Middleton.

The local artists interpreting the photos created their works in a variety of mediums: acrylic, watercolour, oil, fibre, and mixed media, with styles ranging from detailed realism to funky abstracts.
The 19 participating artists are: Cynthia Solomon, Angela Wiggins, Linda Phipps Nicoll, Tina Osborne, Norman K. Fieldhouse, Pat Werden, Susan Moshynski, Doris Scott, Ril Giles, Barbara Chappelle, Anne MacInnis, Niki Mitz, Audrey Thomas, Esther Grav, Christine Pellati, Rachel Comeau, Mandy Bing, Lee Mitz and Dana Manderville.
