In 1985 the Bay of Quinte was declared a pollution hotspot. Among the problems was a dramatic loss of fish and wildlife populations and their habitats.
The Bay of Quinte Remedial Action Plan and its partners carry out actions to rehabilitate the Bay. Wildlife monitoring is part of the process, as wetland birds and frogs are good indicators of environmental health.
By participating in this program you are helping in the rehabilitation and long-term protection of the Bay’s overall ecosystem.
The program offers the Marsh Monitoring Program that includes bird and amphibian monitoring. Volunteers can monitor for either or both species. Another program is called FrogWatch Ontario. This is a good entry level program, great for families due to its simplicity.

The best idea, David, would be to attend the workshop as it will be easier to understand what is involved when you see my presentation. Your marsh is a good one, and having walked that section of the trail many times, I can attest to what you are saying. My program has a certain protocol that must be followed and this will be better understood when you see my power point presentation. Except for one location past the bridge on Wesley Acres Road, that entire marsh is not being monitored at all and I would welcome the opportunity to have you take on a monitoring station. Hi Terry, my backyard boarders on the Millennium Trail and the West Lake marsh. I have much marsh wildlife visiting my home, even occasionally coming inside. There is a Blandings Turtle that nests in our garden. How can I help?
