Board the bus to Vacation Bible School

Vacation Bible School

The volunteers have boarded the bus to Vacation Bible School to prepare for the event taking place July 23-27 at Friendship United Church in Demorestville.

Volunteers from Friendship United Church in Demorestville have boarded the bus to Vacation Bible School.
The theme is “inside out and upside down on Main Street”. On Main Street, children will be drawn into stories Jesus told about everyday people in everyday situations. But His stories were anything but ordinary! Jesus turned lives upside down and hearts inside out through parables that challenged people to look at themselves and others in new and unexpected ways.

Children are welcome to come to Main Street for an inside-out, upside-down experience like no other. Organizers are planning a week of fun, music, games, crafts and snacks. This is a full day program, from 9am to 3pm, Monday, July 23 to Friday, July 27th. Parents are encouraged to use this free program as childcare and if they need to have their children looked after before/after these hours, arrangements can be made. VBS is open to all children from age 4 to age 12.

The church has operated a Vacation Bible School each summer for more than 20 years. Adult volunteers provide leadership each day. There is no fee for children to attend.

Reverend Kirby Breithaupt, newly arrived minister for Friendship United Church, will be one of the leaders this year.  He’s looking forward to having fun with the children at “Firehouse Fitness Games”.

Advance registration is required.  Register online at the church website .  There are a limited number of spaces so early registration is encouraged.  For lots more information see the website.

Friendship United Church is in Demorestville.  A centre for Christian worship for more than 200 years, the church offers traditional and contemporary music during services, an active choir that welcomes new singers, monthly community suppers, Sunday School and nursery services during worship.  The Friendship Worship Band provides music for services twice a month.  For the month of July, the Friendship congregation is worshipping with Wesley United Church at 10am in Mountain View.  Services will again be held at Friendship Church, beginning August 5th at 10am. On September 2nd, worship services resume at the regular time of 11am each Sunday morning.
