Burn ban lifted for Prince Edward County

Fire Chief Scott Manlow has lifted the full burn ban after ground conditions have improved enough to allow open air burning.

To have a fire in Prince Edward County, you must have a current permit and activate it every day that you are having a fire. A burn permit is required for all open air burning. Burn permits cost $20 and expire at the end of the calendar year (Dec. 31, 2020).

Property owners can purchase a burn permit for the 2020 season on the County’s website. Before going online to pay for your permit, you will require a burn permit number. 2019 burn permit holders can use their previous number. Call 613.476.2602 if you require assistance retrieving your 2019 number.

If you are purchasing a burn permit for the first time, call 613.476.2602 to be issued a permit number.

With all municipal offices closed to the public, you can also acquire a burn permit through the mail. Print off a burn permit application and mail it to: Prince Edward County Fire & Rescue Administrative Office, Station 1, Picton, ON – 8 McDonald Drive, Picton, ON K0K 2T0.

The burn status can be checked anytime by calling 613.476.7232 or 613.962.3497 or by visiting the County website.
