Burn ban lifted, water restrictions remain

While Saturday’s storm wasn’t enough to lift the County out of Level 3 Low Water Condition, the burning ban has been lifted.

County Fire Chief Scott Manlow lifted the ban Monday morning to permit open air burning.

Residents are now permitted to burn brush, in addition to campfires and burn barrels, which were permitted under the partial ban. Before doing so, they must ensure that they have a valid and activated burn permit for their property.

Burn permits are available by visiting Fire Station 1 at 8 McDonald Drive in Picton, Shire Hall at 332 Picton Main Street, or at any County library. Full list of County libraries and hours are online at www.PECLibrary.org/locations/. Burn permits cost $15 and expire at the end of the calendar year (December 31st, 2016).

Water restrictions remain in place until the drought level is downgraded to Level 2 or lower.
