Canada Day a grand celebration in the County

Prince Edward was covered in red and white as residents and visitors celebrated Canada’s 145th birthday over the weekend.
Events in Wellington began Friday with a supper hosted by the Wellington Legion and continued Saturday with a Street Dance with Eddy and the Stingrays, followed by fireworks at the beach, presented by Wellington’s volunteer firefighters’ pyrotechnics team.
Sunday’s events opened with a pancake breakfast at the Town Hall, followed by a grand parade, live entertainment and food in Wellington Park. The day was also the kick-off for Wellington’s 150th anniversary.
The kids’ fun zone featured arm wrestling, obstacle course, face painting by Prince Edward Child Care Services and a performance by the County School of Dance.
Celebrations in Picton began Saturday with a pancake breakfast hosted by the Kiwanis Club and continued Sunday with a giant Kids’ Carnival in Delhi Park with games, rides, food, music and prizes. The event is hosted by local churches.
Visitors downtown enjoyed sidewalk sales, buskers and a martial arts demonstrations. The Come Alive Outside play zone was set up on Elizabeth Street.
Dog owners included their pooches in the fun, participating in a Dog Parade from Benson Park to the Armoury Mall.
The celebrations culminated in glorious bursts of fireworks over the Delhi Park Hill.

Well there we are in Wellington’s top Canada Parade and you might say we did (drove) it in style. I had the MX5 all cleaned and waxed sporting 4 Canadian Flags along with the Bose 900 system playing Canada Is and Oh Canada coming out of 8 speakers……oooohhhhhhh Last but not least, the back LCD program displayed the following “Happy Canada Day From The Residents On Wellington On The Lake”. Both Judy and I were passing out to the young ones, Canada Day bracelets. In general, it was a super fantastic day. Last time the MX5 was in a parade was during The Ottawa Senators Parade where we drove in front of team captain, Alfie Affredson.
