Participants in this year’s Kids Fishing Derby, sponsored by the Bloomfield Hallowell Recreation Committee, hope to catch some sunshine and lots of fish during the first event since the pandemic.
Prizes (for children ages 12 and under) will be available for the longest, shortest and most fish caught, as well as the strangest catch. Those without fishing poles need not stay away, as extras are available.
The Prince Edward County Fire Department plans to bring a fire truck to the event.
The derby is set for Saturday, May 7, at the Bloomfield Millpond Park. Registration ($2) begins at 8 a.m., with fishing from 9 a.m. until noon. Following will be a barbecue.
