Celebrate Christmas past during Wassail weekends at Macaulay Museum – Dec. 6

Take a break from the daily bustle and travel back in time to an 1850s holiday season.
Travel to Macaulay House, 35 Church St., Picton,  November  29 and December 6, for old-fashioned celebrations of the Christmas season.

Outgoing Wassail King and Queen Jen and Grant from County Cider crowned new King and Queen Pat and Heidi from Del-Gatto Estates. Wassail festivities begin this weekend and continue for three weekends.

The Sunday before Advent is known, in Anglican Churches, as ‘Stir Up Sunday’.
Over the years this particular Sunday became Associated with Christmas pud as a result of a line in a prayer that is said on that day. ‘Stir Up. We beseech thee.  Lord, the wills of thy faithful people, that they, plenteously bring forth the fruit of good works.’
