The Sunday before Advent is known, in Anglican Churches, as ‘Stir Up Sunday’.
Over the years this particular Sunday became Associated with Christmas pud as a result of a line in a prayer that is said on that day. ‘Stir Up. We beseech thee. Lord, the wills of thy faithful people, that they, plenteously bring forth the fruit of good works.’
