Challenge fellow trivia buffs

History and trivia buffs, those who enjoy game shows, and those interested in a fun evening are invited to the Great Canadian Trivia Challenge.

The Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Foundation, in a patriotic partnership with the Picton Elks Lodge and the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 78, invite County residents and visitors to celebrate Canada 150 on Thursday, July 13.

“Everyone loves trivia games yet we rarely get the opportunity to play with Canadian-specific content,” said Monica Alyea, chair of the PECMH Foundation. “I picture children challenging their parents as they try to outsmart them, municipal councilors going head-to-head, neighbours challenging neighbours. We are also thrilled with the importance this trivia challenge places on education and knowing about our beautiful country … it makes learning fun.”

The Picton Elks and Legion members have donated their space to the Foundation for the event and will sell refreshments throughout the evening. A cash bar is available to those 19 years of age and older.

All questions are multiple-choice and fall into the categories of geography, sports, entertainment, history, ‘Canadianism’, politics and more. There will also be County questions thrown into the mix.

To register, reserve your team through Briar Boyce in the Hospital Foundation office by calling 613-476-1008 ext. 4425 or emailing

Pre-registration is required due to limited space. The cost to enter is $25 per individual or $100 for a team of four to six people. Single registrants will be put onto a ‘False Ducks Island’ team. Registration forms are on the Foundation’s website at

The fun begins at 7pm. There will be prizes.

The Prince Edward County Memorial Hospital Foundation is a charitable organization whose mission is to raise money to advance health care for the people of Prince Edward County.
