Change your clocks; check, clean and test smoke alarms

Roll your clocks back one hour as Daylight Saving Time ends at 2 a.m. Sunday.

Prince Edward County Firefighter Tim Kraemer reminds residents “Fall Back” weekend is a good time to remember to check, clean and test your smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors.

He suggests cleaning smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors with a vacuum or compressed air; replacing batteries, then testing the units to ensure they’re working.

Smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors work every minute of every day. After millions of sensing cycles, they should be retired.

Replace your smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors with new devices every 10 years.
