The fairgrounds overflowed with fall fair flavour as Milford showed its finest in everything from baked goods and preserves, to flowers, photographs, pets, crafts, fun and games, fabulous food and entertainment.
Fair Board President Sam Lanfranco welcomed the huge crowd and thanked everybody for coming. “We try to do on a dime what others do on a dollar,” he said, liking the old farming phrase to the way the fair board executes the annual extravaganza.
Murray Clapp Memorial Citizenship Awards were presented Saturday during the Milford Fair to honour community involvement and volunteer work by six citizens. Honored for 2011 were: Mike Bond, a member of the ambulance services and a volunteer firefighter; Kyle Baldwin, also a volunteer firefighter; Doug and Gillian Parker, honoured for their work with the Milford Fair Board and volunteering with numerous groups; Lori Farrington, known for her work with the Marysburgh Mummers, but also with Friends of the Library, Milford Fair Board, and more; and Lenie Lenz who volunteers at the library and at the school library, works with the Mummers and has served as Milford Fair president. Recipients are shown above with Glendon Walker, who served on the committee with Leona Head and Joyce Minaker. Mike Bond unavailable for photo.
