Clippers out of steam in semis; will finish season with Slam Classic

Clippers-Game-4-&-5-052The U16 County Clippers boys were contenders on the weekend in Hamilton where they competed in the Blessed Sacrament AA Basketball Tournament.

Rob Garden, County Clippers president, said the boys got off to a slow start vs. the Norfolk Nets from Simcoe in their first game and were unable to erase the deficit losing 56-38.

“Their second was a great offensive game and they beat Penetanguishene Midland 51 – 28,” he said, adding “In their third game in less than 10 hours, the boys fought hard for a 51 – 33 victory versus Sudbury.”

With the win, they finished second in their pool and qualified for the semi finals.

“Sunday morning, they faced a tough team from Brampton, played great defense but struggled to score and lost 42 – 32. With the loss, the boys advanced to the bronze medal game vs. Orillia. The first half was back and forth with the score tied at 28 at half. Unfortunately, the boys ran out of steam and Orillia ran away with the game winning 75 – 42.”

The boys will finish their season this weekend in Durham competing in the DC Slam Classic.
