Learn to play piano, about guided hikes and gardens

May 6 – Learn to Play the Piano by Ear – Anyone can learn to play and local musician and teacher Don Hinde will show you how. This presentation is for seniors 60+ who are eager for a new hobby or wish to play again. It’s never too late to learn! This free presentation is on Monday, May 6th at 10:00am at the office of Community Care for Seniors, 74A King Street. May 9 – Sun, Sand and S’More Guided Hike – Learn about the majestic dunes at Sandbanks Park in the 1920s, and how and why they migrated across the landscape, burying trees and buildings along the way. Terry Sprague will guide this hike which explores the 2.5 km Dunes Trail. Learn about the plants and animals and their survival in the arid conditions. Learn about the bird species spotted as the spring bird migration will be well under way. Bring water and good footwear. A walking stick may be helpful as well. Hike starts at 10:00am. May 15 – Pollinator Friendly Garden Design – Lise Bois, past president of the Horticultural Society, has done extensive research on best environmental practices in gardening/ farming. She will address who are the pollinators, how to help them thrive in your garden, what are the best plants to attract pollinators, what are the best practices for pollinator health and much more. Bring your questions and refreshments will be provided. This free talk for seniors 60+ will be held at the North Marysburgh Town Hall (2699 County Road 8, Wapoos) on Wednesday, May 15th starting at 10:00am.
