The Command Performance Choir, in collaboration with the Goulbourn Jubilee Singers of Ottawa, is presenting a special Sesquicentennial Choral Celebration at the Regent Theatre, Sunday, May 14 at 2p.m.
The concert will feature the music of Canada by Canadians, from early days right up to the present.
A highlight of the afternoon will be the world premier of “Sleep Softly Spirit of Earth”, a newly-commissioned piece by composer James Wright, set to the poetry of Al Purdy.
A portion of the concert proceeds will go to support the Purdy A-Frame Association, a heritage group which supports new poets via Al Purdy’s cottage on Roblin Lake.
