Consecon welcomes Santa Claus to town

Bright sunshine, a temperature of 15C and plenty of participants extended a warm welcome for Santa Claus in Consecon Sunday afternoon for his first appearance in Prince Edward County. He’ll return Friday for Bloomfield’s famous Night Time Parade – streets close at 6 p.m. for the 6:30 main event. Arrive early – the Pinecrest school choir will be performing on the church steps. There will be free horse and carriage rides around the village and the Bloomfield Area Business Association will be serving chili and hot chocolate in the Town Hall from 5 p.m.

  1. Nick Nowitski, Ameliasburgh Councillor says:

613, with the Christmas season now begining in late October, the end of November is appropriate. Toronto had their Santa parade on Saturday so it seems fitting that Consecon’s (the first in the County for 30 years) is right in tune. Bye the way, a big ‘Job well done!’ to first time parade organizer, Bill McMahon, for the tremendous effort. There were more participants this year than in years past. The newly paved Mill Street, the great weather, the many participants and watchers, Bill McMahon and his helpers brought Consecon to life.

  2. Marnie says:

Obviously, you have never walked in a Santa Claus Parade on a bitterly cold December day. Even at this time of year, the weather can be too cold for comfort. Kudos to the organizers for realizing that “dreaming of a white Christmas” is often preferable to the reality for Santa parades. Great parade, Consecon!

  3. 613 says:

really doesnt feel right without snow on the ground…
they should really have the parades at least in december
