Construction continues on Union St., Picton; begins in Wellington

Drew Harrison Haulage Ltd. will be resuming work on the Union Street/ County Road 8 watermain extension project.

Construction is to resume on Monday, May 1 and is expected to be completed by May 30. The remaining work includes surface course asphalt replacement on the west bound lane of Union Street/ County Road 8. Top soil and seeding will also be completed during this time.

Periodically, traffic may be reduced to one lane and minor traffic delays are to be expected while construction takes place. Drivers are asked to avoid the area if possible.

Construction on Belleville Street in Wellington also begins Monday.

The work involves the full road reconstruction between Main Street and Niles Street which includes replacement of watermains and water services, replacement of storm sewers, installation of curbs and gutters, installation of sidewalks, and resurfacing of the roadway with new asphalt.

Construction is anticipated to be completed by the end of August, 2017.

During construction it may be necessary to close or restrict access to residential driveways for a short period of time. Advance notice of disruptions to water services or access to driveways is to be given to each affected property owner.

The County awarded this project to McInroy-Maines Construction Ltd., of Belleville.
