Council approves more than $240,000 in community grants

Council at Tuesday night’s meeting approved more than $240,248 in community grants (cash and in-kind) supporting arts and culture, health and wellness, food security, recreation and the environment.

The Community Grants Program, managed by the Community Foundation, funds requests from not-for-profit and community-based organizations for grants under $5,000; over $5,000 and in-kind toward use of municipal facilities or services.

There were 48 applications received this year, representing $414,617 in cash and in-kind requests. Of those, one was not eligible; nine were not funded, 15 were fully funded and 24 partially funded.

In the end, $240,248.90 in grants were awarded to 39 applications.
